Fourth Presbyterian Church is proud to be a participating church in GAIHN/United Ministries (Greenville Area Interfaith Hospitality Network). Through this organization our church hosts families as they stay in in our church home for a week while they work with GAIHN/United Ministries to secure long-term housing.
4th Presbyterian is again hosting homeless families for a week from April 30 - May 7. We need volunteers for this local mission to spend the night at the church, bring a meal, act as the hospitality host, or help us set up the bedrooms and tear them down after the week is over.
Coordinator Roles and Responsibilities:
For each rotation, we have coordinator roles and volunteer rolls. Coordinator duties are longer-term commitments and will ensure duties are covered for each rotation. Volunteers do the various duties throughout a rotation to make things happen.
Meals Coordinator - Recruits church volunteers to prepare evening meals for the families, serving dinner around 6:30-6:45 each evening, and Saturday Brunch from 8-10am
AM/PM Hosts Coordinator - Recruits church volunteers to host the families from 6:00am-7:15 AM and 6:30-8:00 PM. In the morning, help serve breakfast and prepare bag lunches; in the evenings, talk, play games, and maybe watch a movie.
Overnight Coordinator - Recruits church volunteers to spend the night at the church.
Lunch & Snacks/Pantry Coordinator - Keeps the GAIHN kitchen staffed with breakfast and bag lunch foods, drinks, and fruit, and replenishes when necessary.
Supplies Coordinator - Keeps needed items on hand such as baby needs, Wal-mart gift cards for the families, zoo passes, cleaning supplies, toys, welcome bags for the families, toiletries, etc.
Hospitality Coordinator - Puts together welcome bags for the families when they arrive and places welcoming signs on the guest rooms' doors.
Set up & Tear Down Coordinator - Recruits volunteers to pick-up the GAIHN trailer from the previous host Church, set-up the Church for the GAIHN families, and unload beds. These volunteers will also be needed the day of tear-down to get the beds re-loaded on the GAIHN van for a 7:00am Sunday departure.
