Youth Mission & Vision

The mission of the youth ministry of Fourth Presbyterian Church is to be an engaging and welcoming community for the youth of the community by:

1. Surrounding youth with an unconditional love that fosters genuine relationships,

2. Anchoring them in the joys and traditions of the Christian faith, and

3. Energizing and equipping them to extend the love of Christ to the world.

Our vision is to nurture youth and their families in Christian discipleship through worship, fellowship, study, and mission.

Christian Education

Church School

During this rebuilding year, Youth Church School will be focused on building community. Middle and High School youth will spend the Church School hour connecting with one another and reading through a daily devotion together (D365). As the year progresses, we will adapt to any changing needs (number of students and number of volunteers) to the Sunday morning programming, especially concerning Middle and High School students being together.

Confirmation

Our 8th graders will be taking the Confirmation Class that prepares them to reaffirm their baptismal vows and make a public profession of faith, devoting themselves to the church’s teaching and fellowship, the breaking of bread together, and the worship and prayers of this community of faith. The class usually begins in November and meets in Room 25, upstairs during the scheduled Sunday mornings. There is a Confirmation Retreat in the spring that all Confirmands are highly encouraged to attend.

Youth Group

Our Sunday evening programs will be a mix of fun, faith formation, small groups, and service opportunities. Our faith formation focus this fall, will be based on Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s book Life Together. In the spring, our faith formation focus will be practicing different ways to pray. Our programs and events are open to ALL students, and friends are always welcome!

Like Church School, for this year, both Middle and High School youth will meet together on Sunday nights from 4:30-6:00 PM. The basic schedule will consist of games and fun, a lesson, middle and high school small groups, and shared meal together
