About the event

by Kathy Eckart, Director of Crisis Intervention Services, Mental Health America of Greenville County EITHER June 21, 12-1:30 PM OR July 11, 6:30-8 PM, Mildred Crymes Classroom, Class size limited to 20. This training is free. As part of its effort to improve mental health in our community, Fourth will host QPR Suicide Prevention Training this summer.  What should we do when we realize someone is in crisis? QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.  The goal of QPR training is to save lives and reduce suicidal behaviors by teaching attendees how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis, how to offer hope, and how to get help to save the life of the person in crisis.  Everyone who is a friend, co-worker, or parent can use this training.  It is not workplace or student specific.  Due to the serious content of this training, it is open only to adults (those 18 or older) and youth aged 13-17 who are accompanied by a parent. Register by June 17th.
